It’s the nicest indoor R/C heli I’ve ever flown!

I hold a private pilot rotorcraft license and fly a helicopter twice a week for fun. I own a assortment of the S107 3-channel R/C helis, regarding 5 airhog 2-chnnel helis, and one nitro-methane fueled Thunder Tiger Raptor-60.
It comes TRULY ready to fly (RTF) out of the box. The TT Raptor-60 “RTF Kit” still requires assemblage of pitch-change links, rotor, track and balancing, etc. This thing you take it out, charge the battery, and fly!
The wireless (radio, not infra-read like the cheapies) controller has two controls that move in two axes. The left one up-down is throttle, and left-right is yaw (direction of nose goes right or left). The right one up-down is forward/aft cyclic, and left/right is left/right cyclic. There are trim settings for all 4 which makes it a breeze to get it light on the skids, trim it to nonmovement, and then lift up to a hover. There are likewise “reverse/normal” switches for all four channels in case the servo was connected differently than what the radio manufacturer expected. (For mine, all are in REV except Elevator which is NORmal. Elevator btw is forward/aft cyclic on the heli.)
Note that the tail-rotor is there for cosmetic purposes only. The helicopter accomplishes yaw by varying the thrust on the two counter-rotating rotors so that there is right or left torque. This means, by the way, that there is no translating tendency, and it will hover in a vertical line without regard to power changes.
This is not the easiest R/C heli to fly, but it is the most fun and the most realistic. With the exception of the TT Raptor-60, this is the only R/C heli that’s controllable in all four axes — just like a real helicopter! You may hover sideways, forward, back, go up, down, turn the nose left, right, or a combining of all the above. Unlike a real heli it’s difficult to coordinate multiple-axes motions with only two thumbs
Hovering took less than two tries to get it right (first time I didn’t trim it and brought it down to do that). Flying is straightforward, stable, and easy. From former R/C experience I know what to suppose when the aircraft is facing toward me… the cyclic controls are reversed. (On the Uniden radio of the TT I may flip a switch to reverse those controls, but the four switches on this radio in truth aren’t meant for in-flight toggling.)
It’s fun. It’s comparatively inexpensive. The help from ParkFlyers RC was phenomenal. “Hey, the tail rotor doesn’t turn.” Twenty minutes later a return email explains that’s normal.
I love this heli! It’s a blast! I want to make the review finish by saying how long it runs on a single charge, but candidly I’ve yet to have the goodnatured tolerance to let it charge a long time… I keep plugging the battery back in and flying
