4 Way Diablo Monster Magnet

4 Way Diablo Monster Magnet

Dave Wyndorf and company roar back into action with a brand new slab of pure rock perfection. 4-Way Diablo features 12 Wyndorf-penned compositions plus a masterful cover of the Rolling Stones classic “2000 Light Years From Home.” Monster Magnet holds endless believability among fans and critics and they always deliver the goods… this is no exception! Simply put, this is an amazing rock and roll record from one of the very best in the genre!

Monster Magnet once again proves that it’s one of heavy rock’s most authenti units with 4-Way Diablo, a recording that demonstrates the New Jersey outfit’s remarkable diversity and it is unstoppable drive. The opening, titular cut, “Wall of Fire,” and “Cyclone” (which recalls Black Sabbath’s “Heaven and Hell”) serve as perfective and powerful Monster Magnet primers. The Latin-tinged “You’re Alive,” the quiet closer “Little Bag of Gloom,” and the (early) Def Leppard-esque “I’m Calling You” speak to the group’s capacity to traverse from light to dark and everyplace in amongst with ease. A patina of psychedelia sound still hovers here, proposing that quartet will never betray it is roots. Of course, 4-Way Diablo doesn’t add up to a classic album–the same eclecticism that stands as it is biggest strength is also often times a weakness–but it does stay one of the better hard rock releases this year and it will stand as a testament to Monster Magnet’s enduring nature and willingness to boldly strike forth into new territory rather than staying on an outdated and routine course. –Jedd Beaudoin

3He’s on the right track

I’d been anxiously awaiting the release of “4 Way Diablo” for a while now, and from a good deal of of the press saying that it was a “return to form” for the band it had me very excited. And this is rightfully so, because when Dave Wyndorf is on in his songwriting, he’s one of the best in his craft.
