The funniest book in Print

Ellen Degeneres is the funniest comedic performer to evergrace the stage, and now bookshelves. Her book, “My Point…and I do have one” is not your typical book written by comedians. Ellen has not written this book to tell you how much she loves her family, nor has she written it to tell you all with regards to the hard times she’s had in her life, she wrote it to fetch you extreme joy, and hours of endless laughter. When I introductory read this book in November of last year I had only heard of Ellen from an HBO Comedy Showcase, and I knew then that she was exceedingly funny. I borrowed the book from a friend and went into my room and lay down on my bed. I begun to read it and before even finishing the introductory chapter, and begun laughing, hard. Laughing so hard in fact that tears begun streaming down my eyes. My mother ran to my door and begun knocking to ask what was wrong. She thought I was crying I was laughing so hard. In her book Ellen looks at the little things in life, like what your teachers and friends thought of you when you were growing up. What it is like to have a sister or brother who is favoured. She deals with all of the issues, such as wearing fur, in the funniest manner possible. She does not tell when it comes to her life, at least not in an auto- biographical manner. She looks at the little things in life that we never take time to observe and she notices them for us and makes us laugh regarding them. No one will be capable to read more than a page of this book without breaking into glorious laughter. It is a very therapeutic book which could fetch even the most dismal of persons out of the dumps. Ellen’s initial book is SO hilarious! You may listen her voice inside your head with each word you read. Which is genuinely kind of spooky. But fun at the same time. I know she’ll come back to haunt me in the afterlife and she’ll just be talking and talking and talking to me non-stop. I’ll never be competent to take a shower alone again.

Anyway…I’ve read this book twice now, and it never ceases to amaze me with it is laugh-out-loud humor and prose. I pick it up when I need a good laugh. In fact, that makes it a great pick-me-up! It never gets old for me.

I’ve also given this book as a gift to friends. Thankfully you may find it actually cheap now.

So what are you waiting for? Order this book and you’ll have something to read over and over and over again! You’ll never have to buy another book.

Without doubt, this is one of the funniest books I have ever read… and read… and read. And each time I read it, I laugh all over again. I even took it to work and read it out deafening to a coworker on our lunch breaks. Each day, we’d read a new chapter. Whether you’re a fan of Ellen, never heard of Ellen, or can’t stand Ellen, you’ve got to read this book. She has such an unconventional way of looking at things and relating a story. She’ll keep you laughing for hours.

Great book to read at bedtime

This is an aweinspiring book to read to your child when it’s time to go bed. It has a lot of descriptive words such as snuggling, hugging, nuzzling, slithering, etc. The story is when it comes to animals getting ready for bed and their parent asking how a heap of kisses do they want? Our family loved the illustrations, rhyme, and counting kisses.

This book ought to be in each toddlers collection. Counting, rhyming, and animals, can’t get much better than that! After counting to ten with animals, a girl says she want 100 kisses, one in each curl. A boy tells his mom he wants a million, then it asks how numerous kisses do you (your child) want tonight. Boy, from these reviews, people are very passionate regarding their lemon squeezers. It’s easy to use, the juice comes squooshing out rather nicely, and I have suffered no lemon-related injuries as a result of using the apparatus. One reviewer complained that the lemon thingy was not dishwasher safe. It never occured to me that a lemon squeezer required such exhaustive cleansing. I just rinse mine underneath cold water and throw it back in the drawer. Certainly my housekeeping attainments would make Martha Stewart take the gaspipe, but who scrubs the lemon juicer?

Another reviewer rather ominously foresees the day when the pin keeping the two sides together will break. Well, yeah, eventually. But possibly we’ll all be dead by then, look at the bright side. Another saves her lemon squoosher for lemons and has a distinguished (green) one committed peculiarly to limes. Lord I admire that kind of organization. I’m always astonished that I remembered to get lemons or limes in the initial place, let alone have segregated squeezing apparati for them. And of course, I am, admittedly, a wildcard when it comes to citrus. If I were to find an orange little enough, I’d squoosh it in the lemon thingy too. Without hesitation. Yeah, I’m like that. Don’t mess with me. No telling what will happen.

a great utensil

I purchased this squeezer because it was highly commended by Cook’s Illustrated [which has authenti opinions]. I have found it to be everything they said and more. No matter how difficult the lemon, it extracts the most juice and leaves the pulp and seeds behind. I have arthritis in my hands but find this squeezer easy and comfortable to use. My juice extractor of choice was a reamer, but now I go for the Amco Squeezer instead. I also have the lime squeezer which is even more utile because limes are many times arid and hard.

Paint Peeling

I’ve owned various of these enameled aluminum citrus squeezers made in Mexico or Venezuela. They do the job, but I disagree that they are “dishwasher safe.” If you wash them in a dishwasher at high temperatures the enamel paint will inevitably peel. Aluminum doesn’t rust, but it still oxidizes, and the aluminum surface will turn a dark gray and feel rough.
Furthermore, the pin that holds the two handles together will corrode, and inevitably break.

Have you ever been in a circumstance where you are looking at an individual doing something that makes you shake your head and say “What are they thinking?” I retired as a professional danger manager and have an particularly difficult time ignoring potentially hazardous situations. But the real question becomes “What would you do when placed in an uncomfortable circumstance where you see something that could potentially be a child safety issue?”

One such event happened to me this past fall and I just can’t get it out of my head. I was attending a huge fall festival and was sitting down to take a break and have a snack. A young woman came up next to me pushing her lovable and childlike little girl in a stroller. The little one was with regards to 2 years old and getting rather fussy. Her mom had draped a strand of those phony colored beads around her neck, the kind of beads they throw out to crowds in parades and at Mardi Gras.

Have you ever smelled those beads? The ones I smelled had a very strong chemical odor. I’m thinking what could that little girl be ingesting? Worse yet, what if the strand of beads breaks isolated in her mouth and she chokes on a bead? Don’t get me wrong, the beads are great and are share of tradition, but do they belong in the mouth of a 2 year old? This is probably not a good idea.

This raises the question for you and for me – What would you do? When you are standing in a checkout line while shopping, visiting at a friend’s home, or having a friend at your home and witness something that looks like a child safety issue, would you take action in all instances, or just occasionally when it is comfortable to do so? Do you say something, and if so, what do you say? It’s hard to make a comment which may be taken as criticism, peculiarly if it is away from your own home such as at a friend’s home, but the consequence of not saying something could be very serious.

As I reflect back on my fall experience, I now realize that it is not a matter of saying something, but it’s how it is said that may make a difference. It probably would not have been well received if I had started a speech by saying “Do you know how dangerous it is for your daughter to have those beads in her mouth?” What I may now imagine in my mind and must have done in real life is started an engaging speech with the mom. “Looks like you’re enjoying the festival. What have been your bestloved events?”

Maybe a couple more questions before – “Where did you get the beads? Can you see that she has the beads in her mouth? Have you smelled those beads, I wonder what’s in them? Wonder if they could break isolated in her mouth?” While these questions are geared more toward engaging in speech and building trust, this approach will most likely get the mom to come to the conclusion that beads in her daughter’s mouth is not a good idea. If this doesn’t seem to work, then you’re ready for “Do you recognise how dangerous it is for your daughter to have those beads in her mouth?”

As I’ve had a lot of time to think with regards to it, child safety for any child is just too crucial not to say something. If I see other child safety issues, I’ll smile and try to engage the parents in a conversation. When that approach doesn’t work, the danger manager in me will just have to come out and say something direct. Hope you don’t mind if I’m talking to you in regards to your kids, I just love children, and want them to be safe.

Lovely book!

A lot of girls go through a fairy phase. I’m not sure I ever genuinely got out of it. This book is all when it comes to creating a perfective fairy themed party .The introduction is only a couple of pages, explaining the fundamentals and a bit of the history of fairies. The chapters are divided by fairy types and the instructions and recipes are planned for a party of 6 girls. The range of fairy types will have to suit any girl who loves fairies.It’s not all pink and froth or wild woods, there are galore great variations and ideas.
Each chapter has costume instructions including a skirt, a top,decorated shoes and a wand. The chapters likewise have game suggestions, a craft or two, and recipes to fit the theme.
The original chapter, Fairy Sweet is a confection of pink, froth and so very feminine. The drink is a pink punch prettified with sparkling pink decorator’s sugar and the costumes are very flowery.
The second theme is Sugar Plum Fairies, a purple theme with fruity drinks and tarts and a lot of sparkle.
Rainbow Flower Fairies is a multicolor summery party, and where the original two chapters had prettified ballet slippers, this one has beautified sneaker type shoes to suit a garden theme. Fruit kabobs and rainbow parfaits, it’s a very colorful party.
Fairies Rock is for the Diva Fairy. Think rhinestones and hot pink, feather boas wands and stylish elastic headbands. If Fairy Sweet would almost pleasurable sensation of fright your intermediate 5 year old, this one suits older girls. The foods include pizza purses and a pomegranate punch.
The last theme is Woodland Fairies. This one is my favorite, and I’m going to adjust a great deal of of the ideas adult sized for going to this years Renaissance Fair. It’s a good party for outdoorsy girls, and like the Fairies Rock theme, suitable for girls who are in the tween set. Flower crowns and bare feet with ankles wrapped in ribbons and flowers. The foods are pizza, strawberry punch and a trail mix.
The final chapters are a collection of fairy themed crafts and one with more games. Some of the crafts may be done by girls with a great deal of adult supervision, but most of them are better done by adults to set up for the party. There are only a few games, but they include instructions for setting up a maypole for little fairies to dance around.

Just received my copy of this and it’s gorgeous from cover to cover! Filled with easy recipes and ideas for hosting the perfective Fairy party for your bestloved little girls! I specially loved the Fairy Rocks! and Rainbow fairy ideas. Highly commended if you’re looking for a outstanding gift or starting to plan a party for your daughter that every one will love.

Great source of information! Party items are not to elaborate to create on your own. Great ideas for games and setting the scene that girls would love. It was worth the cash even if my daughter uses it as a rainy day idea book.
