3cute but…

i purchased this book assorted months ago and have fallen in love with it. it has given me a large total of dissimilar ideas to use in my own hat making. and each single one of the hats is darling. that being said, of the hats i have knitted from the book, each one of the patterns holds at least one mistake. as an intermediate knitter, i have recognized the errors and am competent to “fix” the pattern so i may achieve the desired end however, for a beginning knitter or one who is unfamiliar with hat patterns, i would find that very frustrating. overall, a great book to add to any pattern book library but with a few drawbacks…

I didn’t buy this book on Amazon but saw it here after buying it at a well-known book store for much more….grumble grumble. Having said that, I have to say that this book is unquestionably worth each penny!

5great book!

i was looking for a book of hat patterns which i could use to make baby hats and adjust to adult size to donate to the oncology floor of the hospital where my daughter works as a nurse. these are outstanding patterns; clear, without apparent effort understood, logical. i haven’t found any faults yet, a problem many times came across in other knitting books. (doesn’t any person test these things???) my only complaint is that though there is a “yarn size” chart in the beginning, with the skein symbol with the number in it, the actual patterns do NOT have that symbol, meaning a heap of trial and error for substitutions.
try making the accordian hat on 9′s with vanna’s choice in a sophisticated color duo and you’ll have a cool hat for yourself. ditto for the beret with the eyelet band.
